Hello everyone, In this post we will discuss how you can complete your General Studies (GS) preparation for SSC CGL 2024 Tier 1 in approximately seven weeks. To complete in 7 weeks we have to complete the topic in given timelines. This will be a seven-week weekly schedule, and it will include the important GS topics from which most questions are asked.

Now, your prelims are scheduled for September 2024, and the prelims will be conducted in mid-September. So, you have roughly two and a half months left until the prelims. It’s clear that you can’t cover the entire GS syllabus in such a short time, so you need to focus on the most important topics from a prelims perspective. You should cover these topics so thoroughly that they will also help in the mains. It is not the case that you should study a bit for prelims, forget it, and then start studying for mains from scratch.
To follow this plan, you need to understand a few important points. F9irstly, whatever you study in GK will only be useful if you remember it during the exam. In other words, you should be able to retain and recall what you have studied during the exam. For this, revision is crucial. You need to ensure that you can revise the topics multiple times in the limited time you have. This way, you will remember them during the exam and be able to answer questions correctly.
Another point is the sequence you need to follow. If you are a complete beginner and starting with history, it won’t be beneficial in such a short time. Therefore, we suggest you start with polity. Polity is easier to understand and remember. After that, you should cover science, followed by static GK, which is very important from the prelims perspective. Focus on important topics in static GK as you don’t have time to cover everything. Then, you should cover geography, focusing mainly on Indian geography, and finally, you can cover history.
Next is current affairs. Current affairs are very important and should be covered alongside your preparation. Avoid daily current affairs and instead focus on weekly and monthly compilations through videos or PDFs.
Now, regarding which books you should have, you should first have Lucent’s GK book or a similar book from Crown Publications, which is also easy to understand. Additionally, you should have Kiran’s previous year’s question book and Kiran’s one-liner GK book.
Week 1, you should cover polity, including topics like the making and source of the Constitution, articles, schedules, fundamental rights and duties, president, vice-president, prime minister, chief minister, governor, parliament, supreme court and high court, and amendments. Follow the day-wise plan for polity, and use Lucent’s book and solve previous year questions from Kiran’s book.
Week 2, cover physics and chemistry. Study the specific topics mentioned for each subject and allocate Day 7 for revision. Study Lucent, and solve previous year questions from Kiran’s book.
Week 3, focus on biology. Follow the day-wise breakdown for chapters, and use Day 6 for revision. Ensure you cover the most important topics thoroughly.
Week 4, cover economics and static GK. Study the economics topics in the first two days and static GK topics as mentioned. Cover additional important static GK topics by Week 5 and use the remaining time for revision.
Week 6, study geography, focusing on the important topics listed. Also, cover medieval and modern history topics as mentioned and finish with a final revision of history.
In summary, follow the seven-week schedule and use the remaining time before the exam for multiple revisions. Hope this will help you.
